VINOD GUPTA | October 27, 2020 03:47 PM

CHANDIGARH:PSEB Engineers Association criticised the move of PSPCL management and Punjab Government to transfer the land of Bathinda thermal valuing 4000 crores at Rupee 1to Private Players for 99 years lease to fill up the coffers of few private players in the name of a proposed pharmaceutical park.
Moreover, there is already a move to hand over Ropar Power colonies to the private sector for free. The burden of this land grab will be borne by the people of Punjab as higher tariff, as the expensive assets of PSPCL are being sacrificed by Management.
PSEB Engineers’ Association held a zonal meeting at Jalandhar and criticised
PSPCL management and Punjab Government for going against the interest of the common
people of Punjab and not being able to safeguard the interest of the power sector.

Jasvir Singh Dhiman, President of the Association said that there is acute
shortage of staff in PSPCL. He demanded that regular and sufficient
hiring must be carried out by PSPCL and new distribution offices created as per workload
requirements for providing reliable, quality, and affordable power to
people of Punjab.
Now instead of hiring regular staff the PSPCL management in the name of cost
cutting has started retrenching outsourced staff.
Members condemned the delay in granting start pay scale to AE’s, decision of stoppage of generation incentive, and decreasing the employers’ NPS contribution.
