Power engineers to launch agitation against privatisation on Nov 26

CHANDIGARH:Power engineers of the country along with employees will
launch agitation on November 26 against the central government move of
privatization electricity. They are demanding to scrap of electricity
(Amendment) Bill, 2020 and standard bidding document, said V K Gupta
Spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF).

The federation opposes the proposed transfer of public assets
to the private cronies for their profit as this will result in
high tariff for the consumers. AIPEF also demanded to withdraw
process of privatisation of Electricity from
public sector to a private company in states and union territories and cancel
all existing privatisation and franchises in the power sector.

AIPEF endorsed the decision of the National Coordination
Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers to support
the demand for the old pension scheme. NCCOEEE had expressed
satisfaction over the resolution adopted by Punjab
Legislative Assembly on 20th October rejecting Electricity
(Amendment) Bill, 2020 and all 3 agricultural bills.
The federation has demanded the reintroduction of the old pension scheme and oppose the forced retirement of employees in the power sector.
Regional and state-level awareness meetings will be held in December.
The national-level demonstration will take place in New Delhi during budget sessions of the Parliament.
