CHANDIGARH: The Khadi andVillage Industries Commission (KVIC), State Office Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh, successfully organized an Awareness Program on the Honey Mission under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Samrala.
The program was aimed at promoting beekeeping activities and scientific management practices among farmers, unemployed youth, and aspiring entrepreneurs. The key objectives highlighted during the session included:
• Generating sustainable employment opportunities.
• Enhancing income through honey and other hive-based products.
• Promoting ecological balance through improved pollination and increased crop yields.
More than 50 farmers and potential entrepreneurs actively participated in the program. Participants were also sensitized and motivated to support the “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi” movement, fostering self-reliance and the promotion of indigenous products. The program was graced by eminent dignitaries including Sh. A S Malik, Assistant Director, KVIC Chandigarh; Sh. Satvinder Singh, Senior Consultant, RCED Chandigarh; Dr. Baljit Singh and Dr. Amanpreet Singh, KVK Samrala; Sh. Gurdeep Singh, Lead District Manager, Punjab and Sind Bank, Ludhiana; Sh. Vijay, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Punjab and Sh. Jatinder Singh, Master Trainer (Beekeeping), Ludhiana.
The event proved to be an informative and motivational platform, encouraging participants to view beekeeping as a viable livelihood option while simultaneously contributing to rural economic growth and environmental sustainability.
