Education Department To Introduce Pre Primary III Balvatika

CHANDIGARH: After successful implementation of remodelling the classrooms, thedepartment. has been successful in introducing Pre primary I and Pre primary II in almost all Government schools in the last two sessions and now the schools are gearing up for introducing pre-primary III “ Balvatika” in schools for the coming session of 2023-24.

This is in line with the change of Pedagogy and child centric play way methods following the “National Curriculum Framework” for foundational stage to ensure the success of “NIPUN BHARAT” flagship programme of GOI.The success of the implementation of Pre primary I and II in the Govt Schools of Chandigarh can be gauged by the short listing of the activity for the PM award for innovation under Samagra Shiksha activity.

As the next academic session 2023-24 is round the corner, the Department of Education has embarked upon, in mission mode, to inspect the schools of Chandigarh, with a view to ensure that schools are ready for the new session i.e. schools have the pre-primary III “ Balvatika” class ready, schools have safe and clean drinking water facility, clean classrooms with adequate and quality furniture, thriving herbal gardens, clean & functional bathrooms, and the clean & upkept school campus.

In FY 2022-23 Department of School Education has issued administrative approvals amounting to Rs. 45 Crores (approx) for renovation/ construction of civil works in school buildings so that the infrastructure is aligned with the guidelines of NEP 2020.

In this context the Education Secretary Smt. Purva Garg, along with the Director School Education Mr HPS Brar, PCS and the entire team of Engineering Department of Chandigarh on Tuesday visited GMHS-7 and GPS-7, Chandigarh. Having reviewed the need and availability of class rooms, instructions were issued to the Engineering Department to undertake the white wash of the school and work out the feasibility of creating additional classrooms for setting up of Pre primary (ECCE) classes within the GMHS-7 School campus.

Thereafter, the team with Education Secretary visited GMSSS 8, where the construction works of the Stairs and bathrooms which have been pending since long. The works and condition of the school building was reviewed and the engineering officials were directed for early completion of pending works and the principal was asked to update/ refurbish the posters and boards put up in the schools.

Chandigarh has innovated the twinning of 450 Aanganwadis with the nearby schools of Chandigarh for academic hand holding of the Aanganwadi workers for ECCE Classes (Primary I and II + Balwalika). In the light of this the functioning of collocated Aanganwadi with GMSSS 8 was also reviewed. To ensure that the objectives of NEP 2020 are achieved in the city and directions were issued to plan the shift of the students in the age group of 3-6 years from Aanganwadis to the school campus, in a phased manner. This shift to schools shall help the young children learn in a conducive learning environment both inside and outside the classrooms. The UT Chandigarh guidelines for twinning of Aanganwadis were framed and shared with MoE which have been appreciated at different levels.
