CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Health Department has fixed Covid-19 treatment charges in private hospitals in the city.
An official spokesman said that the rates fixed by admin will cover care for comorbidities, emergency intervention but cost of Covid-19 test will be extra. The spokesman said that the cost of delivery and care of newborns and their mothers will be charged as per existing rates. Patients have also to pay extra charges for any surgery needed to them during treatment.Similarly the drugs will be charged at MRP.
The rates for Covid-19 treatment will be different for different kind of hospitals. An official spokesman said that hospitals accredited by NABH can charge Rs. 5500 per day for mild cases, Rs.9000 for moderate cases and Rs.14000 for serious cases and Rs.16500 for very serious cases.
Likewise for non-NABH hospitals the charges will be Rs.4500 for mild cases, Rs. 8000 for moderate cases and Rs.13000 for severe cases and Rs.15000 for very severe cases.
The private hospitals have been directed to intimate the UT health department about avialability of covid beds.
