AIPEF condemns the arrest of Shailendra Dubey and others

CHANDIGARH:All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) strongly condemns the arrest of Shailendra Dubey Chairman and other engineers and employees leaders on Monday when they were proceeding for candlelight march after concluding the protest meeting against the privatization of Varanasi Discom at Lucknow, said V K Gupta Spokesperson AIPEF.

Immediately hundreds of employees gave court arrest in Lucknow. As soon as the news of arrest spread
hundreds of employees offered arrests in different parts of the state.

After the spread of the movement in various parts of the state this compelled the state government to release all the employees, said Prasanta Chowhary convener National Coordination Committee for Electricity Employees and Engineers.

The candlelight march in memory of Shaheed Bhagat Singh after protest meetings against privatization was held in all the 75 districts of the Uttar Pradesh and all the generating stations
and advance intimation was given to the concerned authorities. The employees and engineers are protesting against the privatization of Purvanchal Discom which includes the city of Varanasi.
The proposal to privatize Purvanchal Discom was reportedly finalized during the visit of the Power Minister to Lucknow.

Ajaypal Singh Atwal General Secretary of PSEB Engineers Association condemned the arrest of Dubey and others and has supported the UP engineers against this draconian action.
Haryana Power Engineers Association KK Malik also condemned the arrests of
engineers and employees leaders who were to lead candle march.
