18 deaths in tricity, admin considering lockdown to control virus

CHANDIGARH: During the 24 hours tricity, Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula has reported 18 deaths with Mohali registering highest 11 deaths. Chandigarh has registered five and Panchkula two deaths.

The Chandigrh administration is considering to impose longer lockdown and trying to take Mohali and Panchkula authorities on board. UT administrator has V.P.S Badnore has also called a meeting of all political aprties today.

The bed occupancy in hospitals in Chandigarh is almost full. In PGI Chandigrh occupancy is 85 percent where out of 337 beds 286 are occupied and out of 72 ventilators 64 are already occupied by critical patients.

In GMCH-32 out of 93 covid beds 79 are occupied and 22 ventilators out of 31 are occupied. In sector 48 covid hospital 48 beds out of 100 are occupied and 16 ventilators out of 17 are occupied. In Sector 16 hospital 182 beds out of 200 are occupied and five out of 6 ventilators are occupied.

The positivity rate in Pnchkula at 36 percent is highest in the tricity, followed by Chandigarh 21 percent and Mohali 17 percent. Recovery rate in Chandigarh and Panchkula is at 85 percent and Mohali lags behind with 79 percent recovery rate.
