10 Chandigarh NSS volunteers picked up for pre-Republic Day Parade camp

CHANDIGARH:Ten NSS volunteers (five grils and five boys)—Smriti Godra; Harsimran Kaur; Latika
Bhardway; Aditi; Swahalia; Rajinder Singh; Sagar Rai; Joseph; Abhishekh and Mustaq Ali—have been
selected from Chandigarh to attend the pre-Republic Day parade camp to be held in New Delhi.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasth University played host to the pre-Republic Day camp on its
campus from December 1 to 10. The camp which was organized under the aegis of Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports, GOI, Delhi aimed at selecting the best NSS volunteers to take part in 2021
Republic Day parade at Rajpath, New Delhi. The NSS volunteers have been selected from
Chandigarh government, private colleges and PU second and final year NSS volunteers.
It was disclosed by Mr Bikram Rana, SLO, NSS Cell of Education Department, Chandigarh
here on Tuesday.
The selected volunteers have been asked to attend the pre-Republic Day parade camp-
2020 being held in New Delhi from December 1 to 10 next. The participants will be reimbursed
sleeper class rail/bus fare, said Mr Rana.
He further stated that the ten NSS volunteers were picked up from among 125 students of
different colleges and Panjab University of Chandigarh who had earlier participated in the selection
camp.
Ten-day pre-Republic Day camp will be attended by NSS volunteers selected from eight
northern States. It was managed entirely by the NSS officials, NSS volunteers and contingent leaders
which included activities like yoga, community singing, cultural programmes, discussions, quiz and
debates on various issues.
Mr Rana also told that among the 10 selected NSS volunteers, only two would be
selected from Chandigarh in the said camp and they would participate in the Republic Day parade.
