Artists from Columbia Enthralls Audience at Khalsa Public School
AMRITSAR: The ‘fusion of Music’ marked the inter-cultural folklore as the Columbian artists today enthralled the audience with their foot-tapping performances during the 12th Amritsar International Folk Festival held at Khalsa College Public School (KCPS). The Latin American musicians and dancers inter-mixed with the Punjabi artists as they shared the stage, depicting world class multicultural mileage.
The festival organized by Khalsa College Governing Council in collaboration with Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC) exhibited fusion of two cultures as Punjabi and Columbian group of dances set the stage on fire. Along with their presentations, the artists exhibited the message of peace and harmony as they performed together during their gripping musical extravaganza.
The Columbian group Palma Africana, while giving folk presentations of their native country, also joined the host school students in Gidda, Bhangra and other performances, adding spark to the cultural bonanza.
The 18-member Palma Africana group comprised of Maria Del Carmen Melendez Valecilla, Natiuska Quintero Cabrera, Xiomara Patricia Manjarres Padilla, Bleidys Linyuch Fabregas Montenegro, Karen Joseph Jimenez Gutierrez, Liliana De Jesus Barraza Arias, Anderson Esteban Vargas Cifuentes, Jose Alejandro Povea Mestra, Janeris Aylin Urueta Romero, Maribel Padilla Echeverri, Juan Camilo Blanco Otero, Getulio Rodrigo Olivo Jimenez, Luis Felipe Del Portillo Anaya, Carlos Mauricio Molina Hernandez, Eliecer Mauricio Miranda Altamar, Hector Eli Velandia Beltran, Melany Milagro Harding Chacuto and Miguel Dario Melo Diaz
The Chief Guest KCGC honourary Secretary and Khalsa University Pro-Chancellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina distributed the awards of appreciation to the artists. He said such inter-cultural festivals provide opportunities for students to interact and perform together for better understanding between diverse cultures and thus contribute to universal brotherhood and cooperation between countries.
