AMRITSAR: The deliberations were held by the experts during the day-long workshop on “Forensic Nursing: Principles and Practices” at Khalsa College of Nursing (KCN) today. They highlighted how the forensic nursing skills and clinical findings can help in resolving the rising number of medico-legal cases, help in examination of victim and accused and collection and preservation of evidence and documentation.
Chief Guest at the occasion, Khalsa College Governing Council joint secretary (Finance) Gunbir Singh gave an account of the new and latest developments in the upcoming field of forensic science. He said the role of a nurse is full of responsibilities in the medical profession and it has further become challenging with the development of forensic nursing skills. The workshop was sponsored by Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI)’s Punjab Branch.
Principal Dr Amanpreet Kaur earlier welcomed the guests and speaker said this state level workshop was meant to deliberate opon latest developments in forensic nursing. TNAI secretary Dr. Narinder Kaur Walia, the Guest of Honor spoke in detail about the activities undertaken by the Punjab chapter of TNAI. Dr. Jaspinder Pratap Singh, Senior Resident, Dept. of Forensic medicine and toxicology, Govt. Medical College, Dr. Brinder Singh, Retired Incharge of Drug Deaddiction Centre, Civil Hospital, Batala (Gurdaspur) and Dr. Navpreet Kaur, Professor, Dept. of Forensic medicine and toxicology, SGRD Medical College, Amritsar discussed about toxicology in forensic nursing.
They enlightened the participants on poisoning and its management. The workshop ended with an enriching activity session which gave participants hands-on practice training in the clinical area. Dr. Tarandeep Kaur, Associate Professor, Dr. Bhawna Gupta, Assistant Professor and Ravneet Kaur Nursing Tutor, Kawaljeet Kaur, Nursing Tutor, were present.
