Traffic awareness seminar organised at DBU

MANDI GOBINDGARH: Desh Bhagat University organised a comprehensive Traffic Awareness seminar at Mahapragya Hall, marking the occasion of Road Safety Month.

The primary objective of the event was to educate and engage the community in adopting safe practices on the roads, with a special emphasis on advising students to avoid over speeding.

Inderpreet Singh Badungar, District Traffic In-charge, and Davinder Singh, Traffic Incharge, speaking on the occasion emphasised that wearing a helmet not only helps avoid fines but also plays a crucial role in saving lives. Badungar provided valuable tips, advising drivers to reduce speed and maintain safe distance, especially in foggy conditions.

Addressing the audience, Traffic Incharge Inderpreet Singh emphasised that road safety initiatives are crucial steps toward fostering a culture of responsible driving. Raising awareness and educating the public, he stated, contribute significantly to creating a safer and more secure road environment for everyone.

Davinder Singh shared concerning statistics, noting that a significant number of youth and teenagers lose their lives in accidents. Fatehgarh Sahib district is ranked number 5 in road accidents in Punjab. He stressed the importance of understanding the three types of traffic signs: mandatory (round), cautionary (triangle) and inflammatory (box-shaped).

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of DBU, expressed his views on the significance of such initiatives in creating a safer road environment. Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, shared her thoughts on the university's commitment to fostering responsible driving habits and ensuring road safety.

The seminar featured insights from experts and traffic police officials who highlighted the consequences of violating traffic rules and their broader impact on overall road safety. The event emphasized the need for conducting interactive workshops in educational institutes to impart essential knowledge about traffic rules, road signs and the significance of responsible behavior on the road.

Key dignitaries present at the event included Baljinder Singh, ASI Traffic Incharge, Gurmeet Singh, DBU's Vice President, Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, and Dr. Surjeet Kaur Patheja.

This initiative by Desh Bhagat University reflects its commitment to community welfare and aligns with broader efforts to create a safer and more secure road environment for everyone.
