MOHALI: Teachers’ Day was celebrated at the Rayat Bahra University to express gratitude to the teachers for their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment in nurturing young minds. To celebrate this special occasion and to honour your invaluable contributions, a grand function was organized in the Auditorium of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, said from giving us a purpose to setting us up as successful citizens of the world, teachers inspire in us a drive to do well and succeed in life and to recognise this hard work of our mentors and gurus, Teachers’ Day is celebrated with great pomp and show.

Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said Teachers’ Day is dedicated to teachers and the role they play in shaping their students’ lives. The day also commemorates the birth anniversary of scholar and Bharat Ratna recipient Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on the same day in 1888. Since 1962, the year he took oath as the President of India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on his birthday to commemorate his work, something he is believed to have considered a “proud privilege”.

The function was attended by Deans, Directors, Principals, HODs and teachers from different schools of the university. A Cake Cutting Ceremony and small get-together were highlights of the function.

Dr Dinesh Sharma, Registrar Rayat Bahra University, said it was a nice experience to have come together to celebrate not only our accomplishments but also the positive impact we have on our students' lives. The teachers’ hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we believe this is a wonderful opportunity to relax, socialize, and strengthen our bonds as a teaching community.
