Sensitization of Students on Traffic Rules at KCET

AMRITSAR: To sensitize the students about the traffic rules and to follow the discipline, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Amritsar, organized a guest lecture by Traffic Education Cell in the ongoing orientation programme “IBTIDA 2022” for new entrants of the college.

Dr. Manju Bala, Director, KCET, said that motive of this interactive session was to enlighten students about the basic tips about road safety. She said that as one become more independent, they are exposed to more risked. It is more important to guide these young people. She said that when students join college, they are entering new phase of life, thus, they must be made aware about discipline in each and every aspect and road safety is one of the major aspect.

The resource person were officials from Traffic Education Cell; SI Harbhajan Singh (Incharge), ASI Arwinder Singh (Traffic Instructor and Coordinator), HC Satwant Singh (Member), HC Rajesh Kumar (Member).

They discussed facts with the students and said that it is a matter of a concern that in India though citizens are aware about traffic rules still they do not follow and so the accident rate on roads is one accident per minute and one death every four minutes on road. The officials said that one should act as a responsible citizen and follow proper guidelines related road safety to not only safe oneself rather to safe others also. They said it is a major part of law and order of a country. Being an educated citizen is not sufficient rather one should also be aware of these tips related to road safety.

They acquainted students regarding the driving license rules, traffic sensitivity documents required during driving. They said that using mobile phones during driving along with loud music is one of the major causes now days for accidents on road. While one should learn to bear patience. One must discard the ill practices while on road.

The session was concluded by Er. Gurcharan Singh Deputy Dean Student Welfare and then thanked the all dignitaries for having an interactive session with students.
