CHANDIGARH: Panjab University, Chandigarh, today observed “World Day Against Child Labour” by organising a number of mass pledge-taking ceremonies and awareness activities.
Various departments, institutes, and offices of the University participated in various awareness activities to promote the eradication of child labour and highlight the importance of protecting children's rights. Some departments also organised additional awareness programs and activities.
Led by PU Registrar Prof. Y.P. Verma, PU Administrative Block officials assembled at the PU Senate Hall to take the pledge against child labour.
A large number of participants in a number of functions took a collective pledge to uphold the rights and dignity of every child and stand firmly against all forms of child labour and exploitation. They pledged to support efforts to make Chandigarh a child labour-free city, while reinforcing the message: Say no to child labour – yes to education, freedom, and true childhood.
