Over 60 examined at free eye camp organized by RBU

MOHALI: Department of Optometry of University School of Allied Health Sciences, Rayat Bahra University, organized an outreach program for Eye Checkup Awareness at Gurdwara Ravi Dass Sahib in village Radiala, near here.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University and Chairman of RBGI and Bahra Hospital, said that More than 60 patients benefited with the social responsibility service of Rayat Bahra University. Spectacles and eye moisturizers were distributed among the deserving patients.

A 12-member team comprising of faculty members and students of optometry were given send off by Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr SK Bansal, and Dean, USAHS Dr Pankaj Kaul.

According to Alpa Anand, Faculty member of Department of Optometry and Coordinator of the free Eye Checkup camp, the initiative was aimed at educating and creating awareness in the community about eye care.

The goal was to encourage healthy lifestyle practices that can contribute to reducing the risk of loss of eyesight from continuous screen watching and harmful effects of mobile phones, she added.

This event was open to all residents of Radiala village free of cost. People of different age groups participated in good numbers.

Dr Pankaj Kaul, Dean, said early detection plays a crucial role in improving treatment outcomes, and by fostering awareness, we hope to make a positive impact on care of eyes and well-being of the community.

Satnam Singh, Chairman, Gurudwra Ravi Dass ji and his team extended their gratitude to Management of Rayat Bahra University, Mohali campus, for their unconditional support in organizing this vital awareness programme in the interest of the community of the rural area.
