May Day celebrations at Rayat Bahra

MOHALI: International Labour Day was celebrated at the Rayat Bahra University here today to make the younger generation understand the dictum of 'dignity of labour.' To mark the occasion, a special online programme was organised where rich tributes were paid to the martyrs of Chicago.

Speaking on the occasion Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, said that May Day is a celebration of labourers and the working classes, promoted by the international labour movement.

He said that the university recognised the valuable contribution that the labour has made towards the development of the country. He promised to them that the University authorities will always work towards their betterment.  He also reminded the workers to differentiate between work culture in public and private sector.

Dr Daljit Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university, thanked employees, and appreciated the hard work of workers. He also acknowledged their contributions for the welfare of the university. He motivated them to keep doing work for the development of the university. He assured every possible support to them from university administration.

Heads of different departments and deans of different schools of the university also participated in the online programme.
