Lakhwinder Wadali casts his magical spell at Rayat Bahra University

MOHALI: It was Lakhwinder Wadali all the way here this evening. He was performing at the Rayat Bahra University here on the concluding day of the two-day Techno-Virsa-2019. He cast his musical magic right from the word go and swayed the audience with his soulful renderings.

He belted out his hit numbers starting some from his 2004 album Bulla, to his soulful Punjabi numbers like Ishqa and Rangi Gayi. The audiences got swayed and swooned with his popular Punjabi songs which have already been a rage.

Lakhwinder Wadali is the icon of sufi music, which he inherited from his father Puran Chand Wadali and uncle Pyarelal Wadali, of the renowned Sufi singing duo, the Wadali brothers. Lakhwinder has carved a niche for himself in Punjabi and Sufi music.

He did not disappoint his audience and rendered songs one after the other from his rich repertoire which includes renditions of Sufi saints, romantic folk numbers, ghazals, bhajans and bhangra, alaaps and taans.

Carrying forth the musical legacy of his father Puran Chand Wadali and uncle Pyarelal Wadali, of the renowned Sufi singing duo, the Wadali brothers, Lakhwinder Wadali has carved a niche for himself in Punjabi and Sufi music and his tunes have struck a chord with music lovers everywhere.
Earlier, he said participation in youth festivals, inter-university competitions helped me get over stage fear. The Wadali tag always kept me in the limelight.

Meanwhile, the other events during the day included a host of cultural items including bhangra, gidha and fashion show. In the technical session there were Skills in Teaching, Admad show, Mud Robo Race, and Legal Quiz.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, and Dr Daljit Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, formally welcomed Lakhwinder Wadali by presenting him a momento.
