GNDU Department of Hotel Management and Tourism organized Bakery for BHMCT students

AMRITSAR: The Department of Hotel Management and Tourism of Guru Nanak Dev University organized a Bakery Workshop for the BHMCT students. Chef Vinod Polka was the resource person in this event.

At the outset, Professor Incharge Dr. Mandeep Kaur greeted the guest with a flowers. The resource person shared the ‘secret of success’ that surely works in this industry. He has been engaged in this sphere for last 43 years, and addressed the students with his inspiring words and assured that the pupils will gain hands-on experience in the bakery processes. He said “Doing the Best at this moment puts one in the best place for the next moment”. Furthermore, he gave the demonstrations on different bakery items. The response to the workshop was highly encouraging and participants got detailed training on baking cookies, puffs, breads and cakes of different varieties. Additionally, students learned about:How to do garnishing and icing? How to apply fondant art to make creative cakes? How to prepare different pastry doughs?

Chef Harpreet Singh told the participants that this workshop has opened various options for them. This will assist them to get a job in bakery or they can work as an entrepreneurs and could take this hobby towards the professional level. Professor Mandeep Kaur proposed a vote of thanks and reaffirmed department’s commitment by promising the participants to organize such workshops for the students in future. She said that with the right approach, the right instructor and a bit of planning these workshops can become a powerful tool.
