AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) marked the 11th International Yoga Day with fervor, bringing together faculty, staff, students, and NSS and NCC volunteers in a vibrant celebration. This event was organized by the office of Dean, Student’s Welfare.
Vice Chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh, addressing the gathering, expressed pride in the university’s participation in the global event, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Highlighting this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth and One Health, ” Prof Singh drew parallels with Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s philosophy of “Sarbat Da Bhalla” and reverence for Mother Nature. He emphasized the importance of regular yoga camps on campus to promote mental and physical well-being. In a significant announcement, he revealed plans to establish a Centre for Scientific Yoga Practices at GNDU, adopting a holistic approach, and directed officials to prepare a roadmap for its development.
The event featured a yoga session led by Ms Manpreet Kaur and her team, with the Vice Chancellor actively participating. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Prof. H. S. Saini, Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW).Notable attendees included the Dr. Palwinder Singh Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. K. S. Chahal, Registrar, Dr. Shalini Bahel, Controller of Examinations, Associate Deans of Students (Men and Women), Director of Sports, Director of Placement, Director of IQAC, Director of NSS, NCC Incharge, Prof Kuljit Kaur, and other dignitaries.
