CHANDIGARH: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party has repeatedly displayed an alarming disregard for Sikh faith, traditions, and religious dignity. He said that the statements made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with videos that have surfaced regarding his conduct and remarks on sacred Sikh practices, have deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Chugh said that Bhagwant Mann’s comments concerning the sacred Sikh Golak are extremely unfortunate and reflect AAP’s insensitivity towards Sikh beliefs and long-established religious traditions. He added that this is not an isolated lapse, but part of a repeated pattern where AAP leadership shows contempt for Sikh values whenever it suits their political convenience.
He said that while these developments were unfolding in Punjab, the incident in the Delhi Assembly further exposed AAP’s mindset. Chugh stated that the conduct of Atishi in the Delhi Legislative Assembly amounted to a grave insult to Sikh Gurus, crossing all moral and constitutional limits. He said that such behaviour on the floor of a constitutional institution, especially during a sacred period, has inflicted criminal injury upon Sikh religious sentiments and cannot be justified under any circumstances.
Tarun Chugh said that the gravity of these incidents increases manifold as they have occurred at a time when Sikh devotees across the world are commemorating the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This is a sacred occasion to remember the unparalleled sacrifices made by Sikh Gurus for the protection of faith, humanity, and the nation. He said that insulting Sikh Gurus and traditions during such a holy period makes the offence even more serious and completely unforgivable.
Tarun Chugh demanded an unconditional public apology from the Aam Aadmi Party, Atishi, and Bhagwant Mann to the Sikh community. He warned that criminal acts of hurting religious sentiments cannot be normalised under the garb of politics or legislative privilege. He said that the Sikh community will never forget this insult and the entire nation is watching how AAP repeatedly disrespects faith, history, and the sacred values that bind India together.
