MOHALI: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated at the Rayat Bahra University with zeal and gaiety. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, unfurled the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, Bahra paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices in the freedom struggle.
Prof (Dr) Sanjay Kumar, Group Vice-Chancellor of the group, in his address said that Independence did not just happen overnight. It was earned after prolonged struggle by freedom fighters who worked for one common cause to see the country free.
Senior functionaries of Rayat Bahra University, including Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. K. Bansal, along with other senior faculty members, were present on the occasion.
The celebrations which began on an enthusiastic note included a cultural fiesta presented by students which drew thunderous applause. Bhangra and giddha were a highlight of the event and the atmosphere reverberated with the beats of the drum as the students danced in gay abandon. Patriotic songs were also presented by some of the students.
Meanwhile, Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and patriotic fervor at British Laureate School, Mohali. The young students captivated the audience with a vibrant cultural program showcasing their talent and love for the nation. Principal Mrs. Bhavana Sharma expressed her pride, stating that this was the school’s first Independence Day celebration, which the students made truly memorable.
