Five-days 'Literary Fest and Book Fair' at Khalsa College from Feb 21

AMRITSAR: The prestigious-five-day-long ‘Amritsar Literature Festival and Book Fair', is being organized at Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) from February 21 to 25. Sufi singer and Member of Parliament Hans Raj Hans, poet Surjit Patar, pop singer Pammi Bai, poetess Sukhwinder Amrit’ another sufi singer Bir Singh and special guests from Canada would be the star attractions, said Principal Dr.Mehal Singh.

He said Khalsa College Governing Council Honorary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina will open the festival. He said the festival has become so popular that book lovers, writers, literati and artists eagerly await the event. He said this is '8th Amritsar Literature Festival and Book Fair' in series and will be inaugurated by Hans Raj Hans, RMS Chhina and members of the Council.

More than 100 publishers are arriving to exhibit the books on diverse subjects in the fair and readers will be able to buy books at a special discount. He said that during this period, there will be an exhibition of seasonal flowers, stalls of different cuisines and many means of entertainment. Convener of the Festival and Head of Punjabi department Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa said that on the same day, the 19th issue of Samwad, the research journal of Session College, will also be released.

Nari Kavi Durbar will be chaired by Sukhwinder Amrit, the special guest will be Simran alias Surinder Kumari. Dr. Gurmukh Singh, Lakhwinder Johal and Dr. Kulbir Gojra, Surinder Sunnar will be present. Cultural program ‘Babian Da Bhangra’ by Sher-e-Punjab Cultural Council, Batala will entertain the audience and the plays 'Pain of 1947', intellectuals discussions take place.
