Entrepreneurship awareness workshop on biotechnology organized at LPU

Fostering entrepreneurship among students at LPU, Global Entrepreneurs Association TiE Delhi-NCR and BIRAC joined hands to bring entrepreneurs closer to their dreams

Fostering entrepreneurship spirit among biotechnology students, an elaborated entrepreneurship awareness workshop was organized at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of Lovely Professional University (LPU). For this organization, Global Entrepreneurs Association ‘TiE Delhi-NCR’ and ‘BIRAC’ (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) had joined hands to bring emerging entrepreneurs closer to their dreams. The BIRAC is established by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech Inventiveness. TiE is a global network that promotes entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, incubating and funding.
On this occasion, Founder of ‘India Goes Global’ Amit Aggarwal addressed a densely packed hall with entrepreneurship aspiring LPU students on the topic ‘Transitioning from University to the Real World’. He talked about changing the way India looks at learning- starting at age 2. Entrepreneurial Development Manager at BIRAC, Ms Shilpy Kochhar briefed about BIRAC’s role in creating Start-Up culture. She also talked about tremendous funding opportunities and academic collaborations offered to budding entrepreneurs by BIRAC.
With an aim to Ignite, Innovate, Incubate; BIRAC is to undertake research and innovation for nationally relevant ‘Product’. The vision & mission of this Council is to stimulate, foster and enhance the strategic (research and innovation) capabilities of the Indian Biotin Industry. It is for creation of affordable products to fulfil needs of the largest section of Society. The prime objective of BIRAC is to further sensitize the Biotechnology Industries for Public Health, Agriculture, Food Securities, Green Technology and Industry.
Founder of Codon Biotech, Dr Tripti Bhatnagar inspired students with stories from her successful entrepreneurial journey. Similarly, Senior Scientific Officer Alkesh Kandoria at Punjab State Biotech Corporation shared the principles of ‘Mission Biotech Punjab’ & the various aspects of successful entrepreneurship thereof. Director Total Solutions Group Kapil Malhotra guided about decoding entrepreneurship and funding. Prior to this, the elite guests were welcomed by LPU Executive Dean Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, Dr Bhupinder Verma, Dr Neeta Raj, Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal and enterprising students.
