Constitution Day celebrations at RBU conclude

MOHALI: The University School of Law,  Rayat Bahra University, concluded its 15-day Constitution Day celebration, LUMINANCE 2025, with an impressive valedictory ceremony. The event reflected the school’s commitment to deepening students’ understanding of the Constitution of India through an array of informative, insightful, and engaging activities. 

Prof. (Dr.) Akhilesh Ranaut, Dean, School of Law, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and emphasized that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but the very soul of Indian democracy. He noted that the Constitution ensures justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity for every citizen, guiding the nation’s democratic ethos. 

The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University,  Sonepat. In his address, he highlighted the contemporary relevance of the Constitution, stating that although it continues to evolve with the changing times, its fundamental moral values remain steadfast. 

Sh. Rajan Gupta, Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat, Punjab, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He motivated students to embrace constitutional ideals and uphold the principles that form the bedrock of India’s legal framework. 

An academic dimension was added to the event through a thought-provoking lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Rattan on the Right to Be Forgotten. She guided students on the importance of protecting their digital privacy in the rapidly advancing technological era. 

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor,  Rayat Bahra Group, urged students to respect, understand, and safeguard the Constitution as an essential part of their duties as the nation’s future legal professionals. 

Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra lauded the successful organisation of LUMINANCE 2025 and stressed the significance of such initiatives in encouraging the holistic development of law students. He further encouraged students to actively participate in similar academic and cultural engagements.
