5 RBU students complete ISRO course

MOHALI: Five students of the Rayat Bahra University have successfully completed the online Course on Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services, organised by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) through their center IIRS (Indian Institute of Remote Sensing), Dehradun.
The students who completed the 10-day course are pursuing M. Sc. Physics, B. Sc. (Hons.) Physics, B. Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics and B. Tech. Computer Science Engineering.
Dr MS Mehta, Head of the Department of Physics, said the course provided the students an opportunity to learn Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Sciences which will be beneficial in their professional career. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University,   said this basic course in Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Science is planned to build knowledge in RS and GIS technologies at the certificate level, and to add to their credentials.  
He said the students develop a capacity for independent research, problem-solving skills, analysis and solution.
The Department of Physics, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali is a nodal center for another Course on the Remote Sensing and Geoinformatic Services.
