PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | April 22, 2022 05:34 PM

When it comes to cricket, there are very few chances that an Indian will not be excited. Probably the most popular game in the country, it not only garners lots of followers, but also yields a lot of nostalgia to past stars and their achievements. However, there is one problem when it comes to Indian matches. Betting of any kind is not legal here. However, the rule does not stand for online betting. So, in apps like 22bet app, you can bet on the winnings of your favorite player or team or on the match in general. So, today, let us turn the pages and look at two of the best cricketers of all time that Punjab has produced.

 Yuvraj Singh

The man of the tournament in the 2011 ICC World Cup where India had its dream team win the cup, who also beat cancer and came back to the field is Yuvraj Singh- one of the greatest players that the country has ever seen. When it comes to cricket, there is almost nothing that he has not achieved. There had been cases when he had puzzled bowlers and completely nailed them by giving six sixes in the period of one over. He has chased targets when everyone else felt the match was a lost cause. He has given stunning comebacks to drooping matches. He has hit the stumps when there was no question of the batsman even. However, surpassing them all are his labors that helped his country, his team win the ICC World Cup in both ODI as well as the T20s. However, his journey in cricket has been very rough. The outstanding left-hander had to fight with inconsistency, issues in his style while he was trying to pace up with the white ball and other issues. However, he tackled them all to be one of the most popular cricketers that the country has ever produced. His win against cancer made him a legend. He has appeared in 304 ODIs and has made nearly 9000 runs along with 17 international hundreds. He is definitely one of the most inspiring modern players but no other match has seen his brutality like the world cup ones.

 Navjot Sidhu

This popular cricket player from Punjab has not engaged in politics full-time after his stint at a comedy show, but for sports lovers, he would always be “Sixer Sidhu” for his amazing sixers. He had been an amazing batsman who could tear apart bowlers monstrously and also play long innings. His technique was very unique and it had a lot of loopholes. However, his grit, determination and confidence led to his unbeatable success. He cornered the West Indies by batting for 11 hours in 1996/97 which was an outstanding test of time and patience. However, his ultimate achievement would be his 4 fifties in a row that he gave in the 1996 World Cup and 4 fifties in 5 innings against Australia in 1997/98. Moreover, he has scored around 7000 runs in international cricket in his career running for 16 years.
