NAWANSHAHR:Deputy Commissioner-cum-President District Badminton Association, while taking a meeting of the stakeholders and parents of budding players said that the district badminton courts would be revived to provide an opportunity to budding players and badminton lovers.

Expressing concern over the condition of Badminton Hall, he said that we should contribute to maintaining our DB courts by subscribing to a monthly membership fee and per day fee for sports tournaments organised by individual associations other than District Badminton Association.

He said that everyone who wanted to play at DB courts had to deposit a fixed amount of Rs 200 in case of students and Rs 500 in case of other players. Besides a per day fee of Rs 7000 for the individual associations other than District Badminton Association for holding tourneys. He said that the amount would be deposited with the district sports officer-cum-member secretary of the association. He will also maintain the accounts.

Terming it as an emerging platform for the budding players, he exhorted the stakeholders who are in the capacity to pour in their contribution directly to the bank account of the association so that recurring expenses could be met.

He also directed the district sports officer Harpinder Singh to revive the three wooden courts of the DB Court, toilets, lights etc. There would also be a do's and don’ts board and rules on display so that a proper discipline could be maintained there.

DC NPS Randhawa entrusted the monitoring of the revival project to SDM Nawanshahr-cum-Asisstant Commissioner (G) Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon.
