The Mulligans take a leap up the leaderboard at Havells Lloyd CGL 2023

CHANDIGARH: The Mulligans put one past the Soaring Eagles with a solid 5.5-1.5 win on the fourth day of the Havells Lloyd CGL 2023 being played here at Chandigarh Golf Club. On a symmetric day, two other winning teams, Punjab Aces & Partee Panthers also recorded 5.5-1.5 wins over Tee Birds & Moksha Royals respectively. Fairway Comets were pegged in their attempt to match the scoreline as they ran out 5-2 winners against Empire.

By the time Shantanu Puri of Soaring Eagles & Himmat Singh of The Mulligans halved their long singles game, The Mulligans had already wrapped up their other singles courtesy Manan Mahajan and four other games with APS Kahai & Sultan Singh Matharoo combining to win by the biggest margin of 5&4. While the Eagles salvaged a consolation win, Amrinder Singh & Jaskeerat Matharoo completed the anchor game 3&2 in their favour.

Punjab Aces made light work of Tee Birds who were playing their first match as Mivaan Singh & Rao Birender Sidhu won their singles games. After Sukhjeet Singh Lehal & Tajinder Singh Grewal won 6&5, the other games turned out to be much tighter and could have gone either way. The Aces showed their temperament by carving out two 1 Up wins on the final hole and squared a game. Vivek Sharma & Jaikaran Sandhawalia scored the only win for Tee Birds with a 4&2 result.

Partee Panthers built on their big win earlier in the week with a solid performance where birthday girl Rabiya Gill opening the scoring with a 3&2 win. The Moksha Royals won a singles game back where one of India’s best senior golfers, Sandeep Singh Sandhu pipping Bhavkaran Singh 1 Up on the final hole. The first fourball game ended in a half with Pratap Atwal & Hiteshwar Riar winning their final three holes. All the remaining fourball games were won by Partee Panthers with Saahir Singh & Amarjot Singh Bedi winning 5&4.

Prithvi Singh Sandhu & Sagar Arora fired the Fairway Comets ahead by winning the singles games. IS Dhillon & Kanwaljit Singh Gill followed that up with 4&3 win for the Comets as two games finished all square and Col HIS Brar & Sunali Aggarwal carding the only win for Empire.

With today’s round of matches all 21 teams have played atleast one match with half of them having played two. Today’s winners have slotted in from the 3rd to 6th position on the leaderboard as it stands behind Captain’s 18 & Swinging Samurai.
