Kabaddi Sports Nursery to be set up at Khatra: MLA Saund
KHANNA: The Punjab team won the 12th Baldev Singh Khatra Memorial Kabaddi Cup by defeating Haryana. Kadiana also won the cup by defeating Reru Sahib Nandpur in the competition of Eight teams made up of emerging players selected from across Punjab. Gopi Mahali became the best Raider and Sukha Ghaloti became the best Stopper in these team competitions.
In the show match of the Kabaddi Cup, Punjab defeated Haryana by 9 points and won a prize of one lakh rupees. The Haryana team got a prize of 75 thousand rupees. Kadiana won the cup by defeating Reru Sahib Nandpur 32-15 in the final competition in eight emerging teams. 51 thousand rupees to the winning team and 41 thousand rupees to the runner-up team with cash prizes and trophies. Gopi Mahali became the best raider and Sukha Ghaloti became the best stopper who was awarded LCD.
While participating in the Baldev Singh Khatra Memorial Kabaddi Cup organized by Harman Khatra Sports Club every year at village Khatra, Khanna MLA Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that the chief organizer Dalmegh Singh deserves congratulations who continuously striving to uplift the Kabaddi. He said that the Punjab government will set up a Kabaddi Sports nursery at Khatra.
Earlier, former minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal and former DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra encouraged the players by attending as special guests.
