ANTALYA (TURKEY): Ramkumar Ramanathan's challenge ended today as he was defeated in the singles as well as doubles of the Euro 31, 440 Megasaray Hotel Open in Antalya (Turkey) on Friday,
Ramkumar, ranked 186th, was upset by Eduard Esteve Lobato of Spain, in the singles quarter-final round. Lobato won with ease in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 in 61 minutes.
Ramkumar today looked tired. He even fritted away four breakpoints while his opponent converted five out of nine breakpoints. The Indian player served two aces and committed two double faults. Lobato served three aces and did not make any double fault.
In the doubles semi-final Ramkumar Ramanathan and Vladyslav Orlov of Ukraine went down fighting to Italian pair of Riccardo Bonadio and Giovanni Fonio by 7-6 (4), 6-4.
