Ireland beat West Indies by 5 wickets (DLS method)

KINGSTON (JAMAICA): In the rain-interrupted second CG Insurance One Day International Ireland defeated West Indies by five wickets with 21 balls to spare (DLS method) at the Sabina Park here today. The win has helped Ireland to make it 1-1 in the three ODIs series.The third and last ODI will be played on January 16.

In the rain-curtailed match Ireland scored 168 for five in 32.3 overs. Harry Tector remained not out on 54 (75b, 4x4, 1x6). Andy McBrine contributed 35 from 45 deliveries and contained four fours and one six.
Earlier Ireland won the toss and decided to chase. Openers Shai Hope (17) and Justin Greaves (19) put on 38 runs for the opening wicket stand before Hope was bowled by Craig Young. West Indies were reduced to 43 for 3 in 13.5 overs as Craig Young sent back Justin Greaves (10) and Nicolas Pooran (1) to the pavilion in quick succession.
Sharmarh Brooks, hero of West Indies win in the first ODI against Ireland, played a 64-ball 43 which contained five boundaries.
West Indies, not in a too-happy position at 111 for 7 in 33.4 overs, were bolstered by Romario Shepherd (50) and Odean Smith (46) . Smith played a hurricane knock. His 19-ball innings was studded with two fours and five well-executed sixes.
Romario Shepherd's half century in 41 deliveries contained seven boundaries. Romario Shepherd was associated in two fruitful partnerships. First with Akeal Hosein (11), Romario contributed 32 runs for the eighth wicket stand. Romario and Odean Smith stitched a 58-run partnership for the ninth wicket.
Andy McBrine (10-2-36-4), Craig Young 8-1-42-3 and Josh Little (10-1-40-2) were the most successful bowlers for Ireland.
Replying to West Indies total of 229, William Porterfield (26) and Paul Stirling (21) gave Ireland an equally good start by putting on 37 runs. Left handed Andy McBrine contributed 35 with the help of four fours and one six.
Rain stopped the play at 157 for 4 31.2 overs. At that stage, Harry Tector was batting on 50.
