Anshu Malik loses by fall to Helen in final; India finish fifth

OSLO (NORWAY): Helen Maroults of USA defeated Anshu Malik of India by fall in 3.59 minutes for gold medal in 57 kg women freestyle bout in the World Wrestling Championship here today.

Japan lifted the team trophy with 196 points while USA women will return home with runners-up trophy by securing 147 points. Mongolia and Ukraine finished third and fourth with 78 and 73 points respectively.

India finished fifth with 67 points and Kyrgyzstan were sixth with 65 points.

Twenty years old Anshu had posted a VSU, 11-0 verdict against Solomiia Vynnyk of Ukraine to raise hope become first Indian woman wrestler to win gold in the World Championship. In the final she suffered injury. Her hand was supported by sling during the prize distribution ceremony,
In q-quarter-final Anshu beat. Davaachimeg Erkhembayar of Mongolia by VPO1, 5 - 1 and in pre-quarter-final bout Anshu out pointed Nilufar Raimova (KAZ) by VSU1, 15 - 5

In the third place medal Sae Nanjo of Japan defeated Veronika Chumikova of Rusia 7-3 and Davaachimeg Erkhembayar of Mongolia beat Solomiia Vynnyk of Ukraine by 11-8.

Sarita defeated Sara Johanna LindIinborg of Sweden by VPO1, 8 - 2 to claim the bronze medal in the 59 kg class.
In 50 kg quarter-final Nadezhda Sokolova of Russia beat Kumari Hanny of India by VSU, 10 - 0
In 55 kg category Jenna Rose Burkert (USA) denied Pinki of India the bronze medal as the American won by VPO1, 5 - 2.
Another Indian woman wrestler Divya Karan was beaten by Davaanasan Enkh Amar of Mongolia by VPO1, 6 - 2 in 72 kg repechage bout.
