Sangrur administration launches Punjab's first of its kind school on wheels program, 'Gyaan Kirnan Di Chhoh'

SANGRUR: In a Punjab's first of its kind initiative to promote education in the most underprivileged sections of the society, the district administration Sangrur has launched a school on wheels program, 'Gyaan Kirnan Di Chhoh', for the children of slum areas. To kick start the program, Sangrur MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj along with Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Jitendra Jorwal flagged off a batch of as many as 30 children on an exposure-cum-study tour in a specially designed bus.

While divulging details, DC Jitendra Jorwal said that following the directives of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the district administration has launched the noble initiative under which focuses on bringing out-of-school children on board and helping them experience the joy of learning through assistive learning techniques. He said that the bus has a seating arrangement to accommodate around 30 children at once and was well equipped with various interactive tools like colouring books, toys, informative charts etc. He said that it also has a mini library inside to help children inculcate a reading habit. He added that to ensure the safety of children, the bus was also equipped with a CCTV camera, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit.

Mr. Jitendra Jorwal said that the initiative has been drafted with the sole aim to bring the children of slum areas and beggars to the mainstream of the society and the school on wheels will be sent daily to the identified areas to educate the children with the help of different interactive learning techniques. He added that a school teacher and two anganwaadi workers have been deputed to the school on wheels to help effective learning on the go.

Meanwhile, MLA Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that it was the part of one of the basic guarantees of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government and their government is committed to provide quality education to the children nearest to their doorsteps. She said that this initiative would motivate the children to become responsible citizens of the nation and serve the society with their skills.

On this occasion, ADC Varjeet Walia, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, DPO Gagandeep Singh including several others were also present.
