LONDON: Amid a sharp rise in cases of black fungus infections among Covid-19 patients in India and Nepal, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has on Thursday called on to lower the prices of the drug used to treat the condition, media reports said.

MUMBAI: Sounding fresh alarm bells, at least 21 cases of the dreaded Delta Plus variant of Covid-19 have been reported in Maharashtra, Health Minister Rakesh Tope has said.

NAWANSHAHR: While there has been a consistent decrease in new Covid-19 positive cases over the past few days, reporting of as many as four cases of Black Fungus ( Mucormycosis) in the district in the past couple of days has become a cause of concern both for the health authorities and public here.

CHANDIGARH: With as many as 188 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported so far in the state, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ordered ramp-up of stocks of alternate drugs to treat the disease, in view of the shortage of Amphotericin, making Punjab the first state in the country to make effective use of alternative medicines to treat the disease.

BENGALURU: Asserting that there will be no shortage of drugs to treat 'black fungus' (mucormycosis), Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday said that an additional 29,250 vials of Amphotericin-B, use to cure the fungal infection, have been allocated to all the states and Union Territories.

GURUGRAM: Cases of black fungus are increasing in Gurugram with every passing day. During the past 24 hours the district health department has confirmed 14 new cases of the infection. With this the total figure has risen to 170.

CHANDIGARH: 111 cases of Mucormycosis (Black Fungus Infection) have been reported from various parts of Punjab up till Monday. This was revealed by Health & Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu. He said that 25 of these cases have been reported in the Government health facilities, whereas the remaining 86 have been reported from various Private hospitals.

GURUGRAM: The city has reported first suspected death due to black fungus infection (Mucormycosis).A 28-year-old man allegedly died due to suspected black fungus infection on May 16 at a private hospital in Gurugram. The youth was identified as Vikas Sharma (28). He was admitted to Max Hospital on May 15 after recovering from COVID-19.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said on Tuesday that the government has prepared a 20-bed ward in all the medical colleges of the state to control the black fungus infection or mucormycosis, which is surfacing in Covid-19 patients after recovery and is leading to further complications.

MEERUT(UP): A 59-year-old patient from Muzaffarnagar has become the first to succumb to Mucormycosis or black fungus in Meerut.
He had recently recovered from Covid.
