DHARAMSHALA: In a commendable display of prompt action and compassion, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu facilitated the swift airlifting of a critically unwell woman, Kapuri Devi, from Bara Bhangal, an extremely remote area in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The 70-year-old Kapuri Devi had been incapacitated, unable to eat or walk for the past week, prompting urgent intervention.

Upon receiving information from local Panchayat representatives about the woman's deteriorating health on Saturday evening, the district administration promptly informed the state government. Chief Minister Sukhu, without hesitation, directed the dispatch of his helicopter to airlift Kapuri Devi and her son from the challenging terrain of Bada Bhangal to Gaggal Airport on Sunday morning . From there, they were swiftly transported to Tanda Medical College for immediate medical attention.

Confirming the successful airlift and subsequent treatment, Deputy Commissioner Kangra, Dr. Nipun Jindal, acknowledged the Chief Minister's quick response in arranging the airlift for the ailing woman. Kapuri Devi's son, Jagat Ram, expressed profound gratitude to the government, emphasizing that the timely intervention had saved his mother's life, given the geographical challenges and the family's inability to navigate the difficult terrain.

Bada Bhangal, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas in Kangra District of Himachal, stands as one of the least accessible regions in the state. Characterized by its rugged landscapes, dense forests, and steep slopes, Bada Bhangal lacks motorable roads directly connecting to the area. The absence of easy accessibility necessitates trekking routes, with Bir village serving as the nearest roadhead. The recent incident highlights the unique challenges faced by residents in remote regions and underscores the importance of responsive governance in addressing urgent healthcare needs in such areas. The timely and efficient response to Kapuri Devi's health crisis has not only saved a life but has also instilled confidence among the people of Bada Bhangal in the government's commitment to their well-being.
