KAITHAL: Under the drug-free Kaithal campaign, underway on the orders of SP Rajesh Kalia, the district police is making the general public aware about not taking drugs, on the other hand, the police is continuously tightening its grip on drug smugglers. Under this campaign, a drug smuggler was arrested from Baupur by the Anti Narcotic Cell along with 59 grams of opium.
Police spokesperson said that the team of SI Subhash Chand of Anti Narcotic Cell was present in Baupur area during patrolling in the evening. Police got a secret information from cooperative sources that Balkar Singh, resident of Baupur, has been selling opium in and around his house for a long time. . Since the information was reliable, the police team displayed alertness and raided the house of the above mentioned Balkar and arrested Balkar Singh, resident of Baupur. After police information, DSP Sushil Prakash reached the spot and during the search conducted as per rules, 59 grams of opium was recovered from polythene in the possession of the accused. A case was registered against the accused in police station Cheeka and the accused was arrested by ASI Narendra who reached the spot. The accused was produced in the court on Thursday and was taken on Two days remand by the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both accused had been evading arrest by frequently changing their locations. “Such operations will continue to track and apprehend all absconding offenders, ” SSP Khakh added.
Both accused will be produced before the local court, and the police will seek their remand to further investigate their involvement in other crimes.
