Vet Varsity celebrates National Technology Day

LUDHIANA: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India celebrated National Technology Day at Village Jalwana under the project entitled “Setting up of Science Technology & Innovation Led SC Cluster at Ludhiana”. Mr. G.K. Singh (IAS Retd.) graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Special Guest Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, PSCST, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Amandeep Singh (PI of the project). Three lecture-cum-demonstrations were conducted in programme. Dr. Suryendra Singh, KVK Barnala deliberated on agricultural technologies laying emphasis on integrated farming systems, optimum utilization of nitrogen and water. Dr. Arunbeer Singh, Assistant Professor delivered lecture-cum-demonstration on animal nutritional technologies viz. urea molasses mineral block, bypass fat and mineral mixture, whereas Dr. Amandeep Singh addressed the participants regarding information and communication technologies developed by GADVASU for livestock farmers. He emphasized on recent project being implemented by GADVASU i.e. Pashu Palak Tele Advisory Kendra wherein farmers can directly talk to University experts on numbers 62832-58834 and 62832-97919.

Mr. G.K. Singh stated that such events are instrumental in bringing optimal awareness at the farmers’ doorsteps with which farmers can diversify their farming activities with the help of newly developed technologies. He emphasized the role of adoption of new technologies and skill development among rural youth. Mr. Nishan Singh, progressive farmer of the region along with Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Sarpanch Jalwana were felicitated during the programme. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Arunbeer Singh. 45 farmers and experts from GADVASU and PSCST, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India participated in the event. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education – cum – Nodal Officer of the project.
