AMRITSAR: The Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, will participate in the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, to be held in Navi Mumbai on December 21 and 22, 2025, under the aegis of the Maharashtra Government. This information was shared by Sardar Jaspal Singh Sidhu, head of the 11-member Sikh Coordination Committee of Maharashtra, who handed over the formal invitation to Shri Amit Shah Ji during a meeting.
Jaspal Singh Sidhu stated that under the leadership of Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Chief of Damdami Taksal and President of Sant Samaj, and with the cooperation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s government, these grand celebrations will take place. Amit Shah has given his consent to attend.
The Home Minister described Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s supreme sacrifice as a beacon of religious freedom, human dignity, and unity, assuring that the Central Government will extend full support to the event.
Amit Shah Ji remarked that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s ultimate sacrifice is an inspiration of courage, righteousness, and compassion for all humanity. He added that this martyrdom centenary will bring together devotees, scholars, and community leaders from across India to spread the eternal message of unity, peace, and selfless service.
Main Objectives of the Event
Bhai Jaspal Singh Sidhu said that the aim of the event is not only to bow in reverence to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom but also to connect Sikh, Sikligar, Banjara-Labana, Mosial-Sindhi, and other communities with the Guru’s traditions and sacrifices.It will also promote the message of religious freedom, patriotism, and selfless service among the people of India; strengthen unity and fraternity among various castes and communities; prevent religious conversions; and enhance socio-cultural awareness.
He further shared that from the state to the village level, management, guidance, and awareness committees have been formed. Books related to Sikh history and the Gurus, printed in four languages, will be distributed to households. Religious and cultural gatherings like the Banjara and Labana Kumbh will be organised. Participation will include 1.8 million community members, 100 Sanatani saints, 900 Banjara-Labana saints, and 1, 500 social workers.

The ceremonies will highlight as historical inspirations the immortal sacrifices of Bhai Makhan Shah Labana, Bhai Lakhi Shah Banjara, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala Ji — all symbols of unwavering devotion and dedication to the Guru.
He added that this martyrdom centenary is not just a religious program, but a symbol of unity, peace, and shared heritage across India — where Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s teachings and sacrifices will guide future generations.
