Today Hearing on bail plea of Channi’s nephew deferred

CHANDIGARH: The bail application filed by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey and his aide Kudratdeep Singh, alias Lovie, in the special PMLA court in Jalandhar has been adjourned to April 20 and the court had fixed april 27 as the date of hearing.

Both the lawyers appeared and also put forth their arguments on the bail plea, but the court had extended the date of hearing on the bail plea to April 30. Honey is in judicial custody till May 4.


Kudratdeep was also summoned by the court on May 5

Kudrat Deep Singh, a co-accused in the case, has also been summoned by the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court. District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal, whose court is also named as PMLA court, has issued orders that Kudrat Deep Singh be summoned to the court on May 5. This is the first summons for Kudratdeep in this case after the ED filed the charge sheet in the case on March 31. Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey has already appeared in the court in the same case and a copy of the chargesheet has been personally handed over to him.


ED claims Honey admitted to collect Rs 10 crore in illegal mining case

The enforcement directorate officials had made a big disclosure about Rs 10 crore cash recovered from Honey's house. ED officials had claimed that during the interrogation, former chief minister Channi's nephew Honey had admitted that he had taken the money. The amount was recovered from the mining mafia men for transfers and postings of officers in the mining department, sources in the ED had said.

Rs 325 crore racket, Honey was using CM Channi's name to heist money

The ED's counsel told the court in previous hearing said that Honey took Rs 10 crore from the mining mafia using Channi's name, are linked to many other cases. This is not just a 10 crore case, but according to the investigation so far, it is a multi-crore case. About Rs 325 crore allegedly has been earned using the name of the former Chief Minister, the advocate told to court.
