RUPNAGAR: Three out of four children crushed by a passenger train near Sri Kiratpur Sahib in this district died on the spot while the fourth is admitted in the hospital with minor injuries.
The accident took place this morning when the children of migrant labourers were playing near the railway track close to the bridge over river Satluj. The reports said that children failed to hear the train's voice due to a disturbance created by water waterfall near the railway bridge. The train stopped after hitting the children and Railway staff took one surviving child to the next rail station at Kiratpur Sahib.
Police reached the spot after the accident when locals informed them. Police has registered a case and dead bodies of children are handed over to the families of the deceased. The parents of deceased children demanded compensation for the families.
