Exhibition of photographs depicting the military attack in 1984
AMRITSAR: The sacred Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, which was injured due to a bullet wound at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib during the operation blue star on Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib in June 1984, has been decorated today at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji near Sri Akal Takht Sahib for the Sangat to have darshan.
For the past years, the SGPC has been making arrangements for darshan of this sacred image to the Sangat during the Ghallughara week, which has been continued this time too. The Sangat will be able to have darshan of this sacred image at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh from morning to evening every day till June 6. Along with this injured sacred image, the bullet lodged in it is also being shown to the Sangat. Today, Granthi Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Kewal Singh performed the service to decorate this sacred Bir at Gurdwara Sahib.
Sharing his views with the congregation, Giani Kewal Singh said that this injured holy Bir is a telling picture of the atrocities committed against the Sikh community, seeing which fills the heart of every human being with pain.
He said that the community can never forget this atrocities committed against the Sikhs.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, who arrived on the occasion, said that in June 1984, the Congress government at the center had inflicted deep wounds on the Sikh community by launching a military attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib and other Gurdwaras.
He said that the community will always remember the brutal attack carried out by the government of its own country. That is why, to make the future generations aware of the atrocities of the government .
An exhibition of pictures related to the Ghallughara massacre has also been put up outside the Diwan Hall of Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib.
He said that the exhibition has pictures depicting the Sri Akal Takht Sahib that collapsed during the military attack carried out by the Congress government and the tragedy that occurred, which depict the oppression and cruelty committed by the government.
Meanwhile, General Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Bhagwant Singh Dhangera said that the holy Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will be offered for darshan at Gurdwara Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji daily from morning to 7 pm till June 6. Along with this, the exhibition will continue outside the Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.
Before the sacred illumination of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Gurbani Kirtan was performed by the Hazuri Raagi Jathas of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Ardas was offered by Bhai Prem Singh.
On this occasion, Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale's son Bhai Ishar Singh, Shiromani Committee members Harjap Singh Sultanwind, S. Amritpal Singh Kular, General Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, Manager Jaspal Singh Dhadde, Deputy Manager Gurvinderpal Singh Qadian, preachers Bhai Balwant Singh Enokot, Bhai Tarsem Singh, Bhai Gurvinder Singh Khodebet and a large number of devotees were present.
