NAKODAR: Suspense continues over the arrest of self styled Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh. Initial reports had said Amritpal Singh has been arrested but police now claims Amritpal is absconding and hiding somewhere.
Punjab Police and para military forces have surrounded village Sari in Nakodar where Amritpal is suspected to be hiding. Police is making door to door search to arrest Amritpal. Police has asked him to surrender.
Police has arrested 78 supporters of Amritpal. Police has said that they have recovered arms during the operation but Amritpal is evading arrest. Police had made elaborate arrangements to prevent any protests by supporters of Amritpal Singh. Some of his supporters have blocked airport road near Sohana in Mohali.
Police had registered case against Amritpal on Fenruary 24 for attacking police station in Ajnala and injuring several police officials. Police could'nt use force against Amritpal because he was carrying holy Guru Granth Sahib in the procession he led at that time.
