Sukhbir Badal forms a State Committee to provide legal assistance to Sikh youth arrested in ongoing crackdown in the State.

CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that the party would provide legal assistance to all Sikh youth arrested in the ongoing extra-constitutional crackdown in Punjab and ensure their rights were not trampled upon by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The SAD president said it was shocking that scores of youth were being arrested indiscriminately merely on suspicion. He said a State level committee had been formed under SAD Legal Cell President Arshdeep Singh Kler which would coordinate with party leaders in the districts and provide prompt legal aid where desired. Mr Sukhbir Badal also asked party leaders to bring repression let loose on Sikh youth to the notice of the party as well as the State Committee to ensure justice for them.

Meanwhile, Mr Kler disclosed that the State Committee of senior advocates had been constituted in Chandigarh and that it would coordinate with district lawyers to provide legal assistance wherever required. The Committee members are Harish Rai Dhanda, Amardeep Singh Dharni, Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Gurmeet Singh Mann, Jasdev Singh, Parampreet Singh Paul, Jaspreet Singh Brar, Parampreet Singh Bajwa, Zubin Churra, Ravinder Singh Sampla, Gurvir Singh Sidh, Parambir Singh Sunny and Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal.
