Sukhbir Badal demands impartial probe into corruption let loose by Power minister Sanjeev Arora in the PSPCL

TARN TARAN: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the SAD was fighting to save Punjab from the looters of Delhi even as he demanded an impartial probe into the corruption let loose in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) by Power minister Sanjeev Arora.

The SAD president, who addressed a number of well attended public meetings in this constituency in favour of party candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, said it was shocking that the PSPCL chief managing director - A K Sinha had been transferred because he refused to obey illegal orders of Power minister Sanjeev Arora with regard to a 2000 mega watt Power Purchase Agreement. Asserting that Sanjeev Arora was engaging in corruption at the behest of his Delhi bosses, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “Sanjeev Arora is forcing PSPCL to sell prime land owned by it, influencing allocation of tenders and posting corrupt officers, including those who have been charge sheeted, on prime posts. All this is being done to collect money for transfer to the AAP high command in Delhi”. He said only an impartial probe could reveal the extent of corruption and fix accountability for the same.

Asserting that the AAP government’s attempt to influence the forthcoming by-election by filing false cases against Akali workers by using it’s hand picked officers for the same had been exposed, Mr Badal said “the Election Commission has acted on complaints filed by the SAD and transferred two DSPs and one SHO from the constituency”. He said all three officers including DSPs Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Jagjit Singh and SHO Gurdeep Singh had been working as henchmen of AAP candidate Harmeet Sandhu. He also called for disciplinary action against the three officers even as he appealed to police officers to work professionally and not endanger their jobs by taking orders from AAP leaders.

Mr Badal while appealing to the people to support Principal Randhawa whose husband was a Dharmi Fauji who had made a huge sacrifice for the quom, said “even now the Congress is eulogising Indira Gandhi who ordered the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib”. He said Punjab Congress president Raja Warring proudly proclaimed Indira Gandhi has his mother even as senior Congressmen Sukhjinder Randhawa’s father - Santokh Singh Randhawa had congratulated Indira Gandhi for attacking Sri Darbar Sahib. He said the less said about Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj the better. “Everyone knows how this family earned its wealth as well as the occupation of Burj’s father”.

Asserting that the SAD had earlier made power free for farmers besides introducing novel social welfare schemes like old age pension,  Shagun and aatadaal, Mr Badal said “we will expand on this once we form the government in 2027”. He said the Congress was committed to doubling the old age pension and increasing the Shagun scheme benefit to Rs one lakh. “I am also committed to ensuring that there will not be a single “kutcha” house in Punjab and will similarly ensure no “kutchi” drain or street remains in the State. “We will being smiles back to your faces and ensure all welfare schemes which have been stopped by the earlier Congress and present AAP government are restored”.
