TARN TARAN: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the voters of Tarn Taran to give a ‘fatwa’ against the repression let loose by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and create history by ensuring a resounding victory for the SAD in the bypoll in this constituency.

The SAD president, who led a massive road show from Jandiala Guru chowk to Bohriwal chowk in city along with party candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, said “the manner in which you have supported your own regional party despite threats, registration of false cases and even illegal detention has sent out a clear signal that the countdown for the end of the looters of Delhi has begun. The entire Punjab is looking at Tarn Taran. Once AAP loses this seat, the way will be cleared for the installation of a pro-farmer and pro- poor government of the SAD”.

The SAD president, who received a tumultuous welcome across the entire route of the road show with people coming forward to garland him profusely besides showering him with flower petals and assuring their vote for the SAD, said “the credit for the sounding the deathknell of the AAP government will go the proud people of Majha. My head bows in front of you as I have witnessed first hand as to how you have remained steadfast in your support to the SAD despite intimidation from police officers working as stooges of the AAP leadership”.

Urging people to remain strong amidst slogans of “Sukhbir teri soch te pehra devange thok ke, Mr Badal said “the Election Commission has taken strong action against SSP Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal for filing false cases against Akali workers and opened a high level probe against her. Any other officer taking the law in his own hand and carrying out illegal acts at the instance of AAP will also suffer a similar fate”. He also thanked the Election Commission for saving democracy in Tarn Taran.

Speaking about the SAD, Mr Badal said the party had always worked for the welfare of farmers and the poor. “We introduced free power facility for farmers. We also introduced novel social welfare schemes like aata - daal, Shagun, old age pension and the SC scholarship scheme. We are committed to enlarging on the social welfare measures once the SAD forms the government in the State. The old age pension will be doubled. We will also ensure pucca houses for each family in the State. Road tax on two wheelers will be abolished. Simultaneously it will be mandatory to give government jobs to Punjabis only”.

The SAD president also urged the people to honour the sacrifices made by the Dharmi Fauji by electing Principal Randhawa as a legislator. “We owe this to those who sacrificed everything for the Panth”.

The party president was accompanied by Kanchanpreet Kaur and many senior leaders of the party.
