KAPURTHALA: Smart village campaign and MNREGA has turned the fortune for many in kapurthala district as it not only provides the employment to more than 25, 000 people in the covid hit financial year 2020-2021 but also gives a Big Push to the overall development of the villages across the district.
Deputy commissioner Deepti Uppal who is regularly reviewing the projects under the Smart village caimpaign, which was launched by on the birth anniversary of Nations father Mahatma Gandhi on October 2nd, 2020, said that " the MNREGA has works wonder in kapurthala as 20 playground and 22 Thapar model ponds successfully completed.
Thapar model ponds is a unique project which not only provides the water for irrigation but also gives clean atmosphere in villages.
The construction work of playgrounds was started few months ago and 20 out of 25 playgrounds in the district have been completed with Open gyms facilities to chanelise the energy of youth at a cost of Rs. 85.23 lakh so far.
Besides that there are 17 Solid Waste Management Projects in the district for the preparation of organic manure from garbage and 8 more works would be started in the next few days. under this project garbage would be collected and separated from the houses , followed by making organic manure from waste.
10.05 lakh mandes have been generated so far in the year 2020-21 with expenditure of Rs. 3019.11 lakh in financial year, she added.
