NAWANSHAHR: The Punjab Education Department has issued orders to shift PTI teachers from Government Middle Schools to Block Primary Education Officer's Offices. This decision of the department has caused a consternation in the teachers' ranks. Expressing strong displeasure over the departmental decision, the state president of Government Teachers' Union, Punjab Sukhwinder Singh Chahal and general secretary Kuldeep Singh Daurka termed the termination of posts of 228 PTI teachers in the middle schools as a gross injustice to the students studying in the middle schools.
"In doing so, the government has reversed its earlier decision to make health and physical education compulsory in every middle school, " said the leaders who in a press statement here today demanded that the Chief Minister Punjab and the Punjab Education Minister intervened to restrain the decision. They also emphasized on creating 228 new posts for Block Primary Education Offices for promoting sports in the primary schools. They said that the government should issue advertisements for the posts of new PTI teachers which would pave the way for employment for the struggling unemployed teachers.
