SGPC will set up the Sikh Archives Project:Bibi Jagir Kaur

AMRITSAR:Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) would set up a Sikh Archives Project at Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra Gurmat Institute, Bahadurgarh, Patiala. A detailed report has been prepared by the sub-committee in this regard which will be implemented.
In a press statement issued by its headquarters here today Bibi Jagir Kaur said that valuable historical
documents of the Sikh community globally would be made a part of this project. The Shiromani Committee is committed to the preservation of Sikh heritage and to the integration of the world Sikh community, and in view of this the Sikh Archives Project has been designed. She said that the late Sikh scholar from England Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla has also been an important contributor. Although he is no longer in the world, his valuable ideas will be given special importance for the establishment of this project. Dr. Tatla will contact his family for any Sikh documents that were available.

Meanwhile Bibi Jagir Kaur congratulated Kamalpreet Kaur of Sri Muktsar Sahib for entering the finals for discus throw in the Olympics and announced that all Sikh athletes who have won any medal in the Olympic Games would be honored by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. They should be especially honored and encouraged.

Speaking after holding meetings of Dharam Prachar Committee and Education Committee at the SGPC headquarters, Jagir Kaur said that it was a matter of happiness that Kamalpreet Kaur had made a name for herself by reaching the finals.

She said that the SGPC had earlier awarded Rs. 2 lakh to Kamalpreet Kaur for her selection for the Olympics and she would be honored again on her return.
