AMRITSAR: The conspiracy of the Punjab government to grab property by setting up Punjab Agro Food Processing Unit on the land owned by Gurdwara Dharamshala Sangatpura, Village Sangatpur District Tarn Taran is a direct interference in the arrangements of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. This was stated by SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh in a press statement issued from the office here today.

Pratap Singh said that the Punjab government is setting up a Punjab Agro Food Processing Unit under the Shyama Prashad Mukherjee Ruler Mission in two and a half acres of about 11 acres of land in Gurudwara Dharamshala Sangatpura District Tarn Taran. Efforts are being made to install this unit in the land of Gurdwara Sahib.

He said that through Punjab Government Notification No. 523/1554G, dated 13-11-1928 and Notification No. 18, dated 26-02-1934, the area including this has been declared Sikh Gurdwara.

Shiromani Committee Secretary Pratap Singh said that in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran had already written 6 letters expressing objection regarding the above matter and asked him to stop it immediately. But the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran is determined to install this unit in the notified area of Gurdwara Sahib.
He said that this is a direct interference of the government in the assets of the Shiromani Committee, which will never be tolerated.

He appealed to the Chief Minister of the state to fulfill his constitutional responsibility and intervene immediately to stop this action which damages the property of the Gurdwara Sahibs.
