The delay and disregard by the government is not just disappointing — it questions their intentions, " Dhami
AMRITSAR: In a significant development, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held a high-level meeting with senior legal experts and former judges at its Sub Office in Chandigarh to deliberate on the future course of action regarding the petition filed in the case of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana.
The meeting, chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, saw a detailed discussion on legal and strategic aspects of the case.
Despite Bhai Rajoana’s recent request to the SGPC to withdraw the petition, the consensus at the meeting was to not retract the petition and instead continue the legal battle with determination.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Advocate Dhami described the issue as a “serious national matter” that required a unified national voice.
He criticized the government's approach, stating that despite the Supreme Court’s directives, the government's inaction reflects a discriminatory and concerning stance on a matter deeply linked to Sikh sentiments and human rights.
"The SGPC has been committed to fighting this legal battle for justice and equality. The delay and disregard by the government is not just disappointing — it questions their intentions, " Dhami said.
